This year has been challenging. It has also been a beautiful year of change and growth. I leave 2014 with a sense of accomplishment, happiness, and filled with love and gratitude.
Briefly, here is what I’ve been up to:
I began my health coach certification at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in January 2014. I wasn’t sure what I was getting into but I knew it was the first thing in awhile that has come along and smacked me in the face with something that felt true to me.
I was laid off from my job in the corporate world in April and ended up with a dream nanny job that I am truly grateful for in August (Thanks, Walt!). Losing my job of almost 3 years (financial security, comfort, etc.) was just the right taste of freedom and fear that I needed to get my butt moving towards what I really wanted out of life! Working as a nanny for such an amazing family has allowed me to slow down, bring love and positivity to work every day, truly live in the moment, and enjoy the simple things in life.
I’ve met some amazing new friends this year by opening my heart and being more myself and I’ve spent more time and deepened relationships with the great friends and family I already have in my life!
I am blessed to have an amazing family and was able to go home several times in 2014 to celebrate birthdays, holidays, travel to Utah in January, Philly twice in May and September. These trips allowed me to spend quality time with my grandmothers, parents, sister, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
I ran two half marathons (bringing my grand total to 3!), a 15k, and a 10k all in the last 3 months of the year. Training for these races was not without blood, sweat, and tears but the feeling at each finish line has been so worth it. Running gives me a taste of freedom, a chance to meditate, and a reason to move my body!
I’ve lived in a great apartment in a great neighborhood in Brooklyn for the past 18 months and plan to continue living here for the foreseeable future. For those that know how the last 4.5 years of apartments (hello 5 apartments in 4 years!) has been for me or for anyone who lives in NYC, this is a true victory! It feels great to settle in and be comfortable at home.
I was introduced to a metaphysical, spiritual text called A Course In Miracles again and again for the last 12-18 months and began to dive a little deeper into my spiritual journey earlier this year. I attend a weekly Miracles group in NYC and have been able to bring what I’m learning through ACIM into my every day life. #peacebeginswithme
I completed my health coach certification with IIN just a few weeks ago and am now embarking on my new career as a wellness entrepreneur and holistic health coach. I couldn’t be more grateful that I have found the power within me to go after what I truly want: passion, freedom, love, and wellness!
I’ve been thinking a lot about making resolutions or goals for 2015 and I kept feeling myself tense up. Instead of making a lengthy list of ambitious new year’s resolutions that I may or may not accomplish, I instead want to set intentions, desires, and feelings for 2015.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with setting intentions, I’ll explain:
“Intention is the starting part of every dream. It is the creative power that fulfills all of our needs, whether for money, relationships, spiritual awakening, or love. Everything that happens in the universe begins with intention.” – Deepak Chopra
The intentions you set can be large or small. You can intend to bring love into every encounter you have for that day or that moment or you can intend to be gentle and forgiving with yourself throughout the year. Whatever you intend for yourself reflects the experience you have in your life. You can set intentions every day, every week, every month, or every year! You can set intentions for the next hour or minute of your life if you want to!
In 2015, I intend to continue to practice self love, self trust, enjoy the journey, and bring love, positivity, and authenticity into every aspect of my life. I have the desire to live a happy, healthy, and abundant life. I want to feel loving and loved, happy, calm, and excited!
Please tell me in the comments below what your intentions, what you desire, and how you wish to feel in 2015!
P.S. I do have some flexible goals for the year that I will continue to make and change on a regular basis. I know you’re dying to know what they are so I’ll tell you: run a marathon, do a handstand, travel outside of the U.S., and take on my very first health coaching clients! We’ll see how the year unfolds!!
